Text to image generation inspired by a recent run on a trail. Run locally using ComfyUI and Flux.2 Klein 9B, then edited together in Paint.NET, which was also used to add the dialog and captions.
Dad jokes could heal the world, but the treatment would take a lot of patients.
I gave it a try to render this with one big prompt and it was about 66% of the way there. The rest of it would be confused as to which person was which, what a bridge/underpass looked like, and putting the wrong person in the wrong panels. One render had two nurses laughing together and shaking hands.
As mentioned, I added the text manually (except the title). I tried having speech bubbles with the text rendered but the output was gibberish. I tried blank speech bubbles to serve as a placeholder but that just added one more variable that could be incorrect in the render.
I finally rendered each panel individually. I was hesitant to go this route because consistency between the panels would be lost but by going for individual panels I was able to give more detailed prompts to preserve that consistency and work out the problematic details. Once the setting was a little more fixed, I kept the seed from changing and slightly adjusted the prompt to get the next frame.
Panel 1 Prompt

Trail Etiquette Title Prompt
A title for a graphic novel panel strip that says “Trail Etiquette”. Clearly written and properly spelled in white text on a street sign green background, with a black border around the green rectangle.
The first few renders of the title were quick and random designs. I added “properly spelled” to the prompt and that worked for the first few images but quickly became a problem again. The green street sign looking image came up in a batch and it felt like a good fit. Of course, it was misspelled! I refined the prompt to target that design and after enough renders with the seed randomizing each attempt, it finally got the spelling correct.
